Before a recent trip to the grocery store, I asked Amiyah to go in her room and get changed (knowing that I would be looking over the outfit before we left) her face lit up. She ran off to her room to put the perfect outfit together.
A few minutes later she comes out and says, " Ok mommy, look at my outfit. I picked my shirt that has green in it because I need to bring a purse to the store, and I wanted to bring this green one, so I picked this shirt that matches. What do you think?"
I was so incredibly proud of her, she matched her shirt and purse with a pair of jean capris, and white sandals. I couldn't believe it!

Bored ~
What can I say, my daughter loves taking silly pictures of herself. I have many more, but these are two of my favorites!

For a while now my bean has been able to pick up certain foods, but getting it into his mouth... that was a whole different thing.
He would get the food in his fist, and just shove almost his entire fist in his mouth trying to get the goods. Of course it would always end with him screaming in frustration.
Today, however, I am happy to report the bean can put his food into his mouth on his own.
He figured out how to use two fingers to pick it up. Such a big bean!

"I'm shaving like Papi!"
The other night, just before bed, we sent Amiyah into her bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth.
After a couple of minutes, I noticed I didn't hear the water come on. I guess Joey was thinking the very same thing because when I turned toward him he was looking at me with this really worried face.
He called for her, but got no answer. He called again, and then hear she comes around the corner, scrubbing her face with Joey's toothbrush. Her face had a bit of a glow to it, but we thought nothing of it, after all, we did ask her to wash her face.
As she came closer we noticed her face didn't just have a glow, but parts of it were blue.
I immediately knew what it was.
Curious as to why she was scrubbing her face with his toothbrush, Joey asked, "what are you doing baby?" She replied, "papi, I'm shaving like you!"

What's In a Name?
Before we begin our story, let me just explain how she came to have such a name. Her actual name is Genevieve. She is a life-size Princess Barbie Amiyah received this past Christmas.
Being that she is life-size, she came wearing a beautiful ballerina outfit that would fit just about any 3~5 yr. old. Amiyah, of course, had to try it on. From that day on, Genevieve's outift remained in the the closet for Amiyah to play dress-up with, she would never get it back. Genevieve, would be naked forever.
Grandma (my mom) came for a visit this week. While I was in the living room with the bean, Grandma, and Amiyah were in her room playing Dance Party.
I thought it would be a great idea to take pictures of them dancing around. So, I grabbed the camera, and walked into her bedroom. I wasn't welcome, of course. When Grandma comes, only Amiyah is allowed to play with her. Needless to say, I pleaded with Amiyah to let me in, and she was reluctant, but agreed. Sheesh!!
I sat quietly ( or I would have been kicked out) on Amiyah's bed to capture the show, only to turn and see my daughter manhandling Genevieve. So to get her to take a picture with her doll, I started asking questions. One was " What's your dolls name?" to which she replied, "Naked Thing."
My mom and I looked at each other and began to laugh hysterically, we could not believe what we had just heard, and she said it as if that was the name she had given her from the beginning.
So, I started taking pictures of her and "Naked Thing" just to see exactly what she was doing.
I think she was trying to dance with her, but then it turned into wrestling. Still cracking up, my mom and I started making up a story about what it looked like was going on.
So, to end, I have decided to blog about the Adventures of Naked Thing, and this is the very first one. Enjoy!

The Adventures of Naked Thing~ Part 1
Officer Amiyah got a call about a girl being a little rowdy at a tea party.
When she showed up on the scene, she saw Naked Thing, disturbing the peace. She tried talking to her, but Naked Thing had a little more tea than she should have. Seeing that Officer Amiyah noticed this, she turned to run.
Almost out of breath, Officer Amiyah, finally caught up with her, but, as you can see in the picture, she was putting up a pretty good fight.

After telling the guests to clear the area, she forced Naked Thing onto the table to place her under arrest.

Officer Amiyah Knew this wasn't going to be easy,
she immediately called for backup.
In a matter of minutes officer Grandma arrived on the scene to assist.
They finally apprehended Naked Thing and drove her down to the station to book.

First Day of School
It's finally here! Amiyah's first day of school.
Well..... these pictures were taken on her ACTUAL first day of school about a month ago. A little late getting them up I know, but with my schedule, I'm surprised I got them up at all.
She's in her final year of preschool, and loving it.
She is taught at home, and surprisingly she doesn't want it any other way. Well, except for the days we drive by a big yellow school bus, and she begs me to ride on one to school with all her friends.
She has been writing for quite sometime now, so we have started focusing on spelling. We have done different things to encourage her such as, making word books, spelling bees, etc. I think she's gonna be like her moma, and love spelling. All she wants to do all day (even when school is out) is spell and write all kinds of different things on my dry-erase
board. She's even started writing sentences.
I cannot believe she is such a big girl.
